Part II of my adventure during NYFW. I'm loving the chilled weather in the city, it's the perfect excuse to show off my unused lightweight trench from Nasty Gal. I've been holding on to this baby for months! My dress is another design from my line Ten Tomorrow :P (shameless plug haha). I brought a reminder of home with me, a shark's tooth necklace by Misha Hawaii.
My first show of the day is the Fashion Shenzhen runway show featuring 3 talented designers out of China.
- Ellassay - Modern and sleek looks. The designs are clean and have fresh and unique silhouettes. I love the simplicity of the mainly black and white pallet. This collection is the most wearable of the 3 (for me at least) and I'm def adding all these pieces to my wish list.
- Lizzy - Couture gowns. The next line is a series of gorgeous evening wear pieces. Some were bedazzled with crystals on sheer mesh while others were beautifully draped lace.
- Haiping Xie - Asian-inspired artistry. Something about this collection captures my inner ceativity. The designs are bold and speak like wearable art. I adored the hair and makeup concept as it completed the full transformation of each model. The fierce inspiration of the dragon printed on the whimsical flowing fabric is strong and beautifully feminine. One day I hope my inspiration can reflect this passionately in my own designs.
I complete my day by spending an afternoon shadowing the renowned fashion show producer Lynne O'neill. It is an amazing experience to see her coordinate and execute the Vivienne Tam show. I am able to witness the tech rehearsal, run-through, and finally the actual show. Lynne is just the sweetest woman who can truly command a room. I'm so enthralled at the opportunity to learn from her and will take back my knowledge and apply it to my own work locally.
