Back to My Roots

Well hello there stranger!  It's been epically long since my last post and I apologize.  I've been traveling and trying to launch my latest SS15 collection for Ten Tomorrow.  Anyway, I'll be trying to update more with outfit posts but until then…here are a few projects I was lucky to collaborate on!

Natalie Fong, NY photographer extraordinaire, contacted me to play on not one, but TWO, editorial photo shoots.  Here's a few snapshots of the first one…We focused on naked natural beauty, sunlight, and simple wardrobe. It was a last minute shoot for me so all I could pull were pieces from the deep recess of my own closet.  Despite that, I think we created some magic!  It was nice to get to style again….I almost forgot what got me started in this local industry in the first place :)

I hope you enjoy! Stay tuned for our 2nd shoot…it's EVEN BETTER (it features my line haha)

Waikiki Wanderlust

Sundays are for wandering.  Today I spent the better part of my morning wandering good ol' Waikiki.  It was an amazingly beautiful day & I got to thinking about how lucky I am to have this weather in November.  My friends from the East Coast are currently escaping the cold here & it's been nice to play tourist for a couple days.  I suppose this blog is in honor of resort season…resort-wear, resort-stays, resort-everything!

My brand new romper is part of Florencia Arias newest resort collection.  I got a sneak peek at the line and it's GORGEOUS.  I had the hardest time deciding between the rompers & the maxi dresses….I may have to get both sooner or later.  I accented it with my favorite Ginger 13 necklace. (Shameless plug : I will be selling my clothing line in her boutique downtown for Black Friday! Come visit us!)

Lastly, my dependable tote (that fits EVERYTHING), is an extra exclusive piece found locally in either the Shoreline Hotel, or the Coconut Waikiki Hotel.  Both boutique properties are part of the Joie de Vivre hotels.  The tote is made out of 100% recycled cotton & designed + dyed all here in Hawaii!  It's a collaboration between Joie de Vivre Hotels & Happy Town Hawaii.  I'm happy to be toting around eco-friendly fashion.

PS How adorable is this coconut that we found?  I needed it to be in my shot.  A kind gentleman later came to pick it up telling us he wants to attempt to plant it!

Romper by Florencia Arias.  Necklace by Ginger 13.  Eco-friendly tote available at either Joie de Vivre Waikiki Hotels.

Today's post is especially special to me since I get to feature two designer friends of mine.  Ericka Bueno of Mixe Medium (click here for website) came to me with her ultra cool handmade jewelry and I instantly knew how I wanted to blog it.  She's got a real edge to her designs and while they can be viewed as gritty, ornate, and even bohemian, I wanted to showcase her pieces in my own way.

I paired her with designs from Rumi Murakami's (click here for website) upcoming Spring/Summer '15 collection.  Her classic white button down is what I call my "Editor Shirt".  I feel like I'm channeling the eternal elegance of Vogue Editor - Anna Wintour.   The culotte is just perfect.  Length - perfect, fit - flawless, style - timeless.

This is one of those outfits that make me feel beautiful, smart, and sexy.

I hope you enjoy my combination of the statement jewelry and classic clothes.  It was my way to play with two opposing styles in one look.  It's about balance and simplicity.

RIGHT: I layered two necklaces for this open collar look.  There is something so sexy about devouring the decollate with these ornate necklaces dripping in silver.  LEFT:  I am totally a top-button kinda gal.  To jazz up the bare neckline I threw on this statement piece with draped chains.  Did you notice the sick hand-chain too?  I think I could wear this every day...

Crossing Bridges

This blog is just to show off some of the shopping I did when I was in NYC.  I spent a whole day shopping the Lower East Side boutiques, including my FAVORITE - Pixie Market!!  I scored an adorable scalloped striped crop top AND these incredible cat-eye sunnies (ok lets be real, I bought a lot more than 2 things haha…shh).  I decided to pair the cropped tee with my Zara high waisted trousers for a more casual chic look.  I recently had a debate with a close friend if we were approaching an age in which crop tops are inappropriate.  I hope this blog entry strongly states that we can still maintain elegance and style WITH a crop top.  I may not be a young "20-something" year old who will brazenly shows off toned abs in the crop top + shredded shorts combo, but I will compose my crop tops in a fashionable & modern manner.  So there!

I love the mini scallop detail on the stripes.  Did I mention this top was on sale for only $20?? :)  Oh and these sunnies, with their clear rims, are so fun!

I kept my accessories to a minimum (as usual).  My initial necklace is now a daily staple. The earrings I love for their sparkle & edge.

I also got a new lipstick color!  Chanel's La Diva.  It's my new go-to pink.  Pucker up...

Top & Sunnies - Pixie Market.  Pant - Zara.  Initial Necklace - Fighting Eel.  Earrings - gifted.  Wedges by Melissa.
